Did you know that we have a convenient menu link that directs you to various helpful resources for our school? Whether it's accessing our Blue Sheet directory, linking to our Artsonia website (featuring our student artists), or even if you want to shop at our online mall...the links are all under one area. Please click on the Resources menu link (above) for more information.
ACA is proud to announce that we are now members of Microsoft's DreamSpark program. What this means is that all of our students now have access to various Microsoft development software AT NO COST. Students wanting to develop Windows applications, Windows Phone apps, or even XBOX games can now do so using a myriad of Microsoft software.
For example, Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 is now a free download for any ACA student wanting to develop software. Also, there is non-application development software available as well. Students struggling with mathematical concepts can download Microsoft's Mathematics in which they will be able to solve problems in math, science, and tech-related problems. The application contains tools such as graphing calculators and unit converters. Another software package available is Microsoft's Songsmith. This application allows our students to generate musical accompaniment to match their voice. They simply need to choose a musical style, sing into their PC's microphone, and Songsmith will create the backing music for them -- automagically.
The following will give you an idea of what software products are available via our WebStore:
v Visual Studio 2013 – develop Windows, Phone Apps, and XBOX games
v Expression Studio 4 – develop websites
v Windows Server 2012 – software used to setup and run your own network
v XNA Game Studio 4 – works with Visual Studio in developing games and other graphics-based applications
v Windows Web Server 2008 – host your own websites
v SQL Server – relational database server for storing data
v Robotics Developer Studio 4 – develop software for robotics
v Songsmith – Automagically create background music for your voice
v Mathematics 4.0 – provides a set of mathematical tools that help students get school work done quickly and easily
v And many more titles to choose from
DreamSpark provides all of the tools necessary for our students to learn more about the Information Technology world. They will have access to Windows Server, SQL Server, web page development, Windows Application development, and other software products. We encourage you to take a look at what DreamSpark has to offer by visiting our launching website.
Your child has been setup with a user name on our DreamSpark WebStore. Accessing the site the first time will require them to register their user name by providing minimal information. Once registered, they will have unlimited access to the available software.
To register your child’s account, simply open your Internet browser and navigate to http://dreamspark.adventurechristian.com.
Click on the Register button to register your child’s account. Follow the instructions referenced in the Welcome Letter that was given to your child to complete the registration process.
After successfully registering, your child will be authorized to use our WebStore website and can start downloading software immediately.
Please note, the use of DreamSpark is for educational purposes only. Although you are unrestricted in developing applications using the software available, your child may not develop applications for commercial purposes. There are only a few exceptions to this rule. For example, your child can develop an XBOX 360 game/application and can sell it only on the Windows / XBOX 360 Store. Students are not permitted to market and sell applications using other commercial and/or personal marketplaces.
ACA will be considering how we can best use DreamSpark in our core curriculum and school activities. For example, we are considering allowing students to develop and submit applications for extra credit or Science Fair projects – more to come on this particular topic.
We hope you value this service and that you encourage your child to make the most of this dream-sparking program.
